"I Told You So"

So, I was riding Mandy today, no wind, cool and yet not-so-winter air...really nice!! Things were going just fine. I was galloping Mandy and she snorted a: "I'm soo tired!!" but I-in my usual state of dreamland on my friend- ignorantly ignored it.

I took her down to the bottom of the field and let 'er rip. She was soaring up the field as I felt my body slipping off her warm withers and before I knew it, I was on the ground and an imaginary load of bricks was laying me down.

Sore but un-injured, I rose to my feet, a little loopy from the ever-rising bump on my head, and looked at my horse who had stopped a few paces in front of me.

A little laugh rose out of my sore body as I noticed the expression on Mandy's face. She stared at me as if saying..

"I told you so."

SNOW!!!

Oh wow!! It's a winter wonderland outside right now! Down here we are working on 5 INCHES!!!
So, in honor of it being so cold, I think I might have to change the picture on the front. :)

For all of you readers that are coming here every once in a while and thinking "man....she hasn't posted in a while!!" Please bare with me as I am not...NOT a big writer or 'imagioner' so it usually takes me a while to post something. :) So, that's why my posts are usually all about 'catching up'.

I am really excited for Saturday!! I will be turning 13 for those who don't know. :) I will also be having a good camp friend down!!!

As I am writing this, I am looking outside at Mandy. I know that horses are specially made for being in frigid weather but...it just breaks my heart to see her out there with a couple of inches of snow on her back!! But then, I remember she is going on 22 y/o and has survived some pretty harsh weather. :)

The fire is going in here, my mom just fixed hot cocoa, my brother is cleaning up his camera for some 'winter pics' and my eldest brother is in his bed sawin' logs. :) Unfortunately my dad was able to get out of the driveway for work this morning.

Well, hope everyone is having a wonderful snow day!!

Blessings

Hey readers! I'm sorry for all the time in between all my posts, but for one, I'm not a creative writer so half the time I am racking my brain of something new to post! And secondly, it is January.....shall I say more? BUSY!!!!

Lately, one certain subject keeps on coming back into my mind. I'll explain

My oldest cousin told us back in November that she had a chance to go to Africa with one of her classes at college. We were all thrilled and prayed that she would be able to. Time went along and she announced again that she in fact would be able to take the trip to Rwanda, Africa!

So December 25th 2010, my cousin boarded a plane to Washington D.C. and then to Africa. We were a little upset that she wouldn't be able to join us for our Christmas events but at the same time we were overjoyed at her 'once-in-a-lifetime' opportunity.

We were kept in-touch by her parents who would talk to her every once in a while and then report to us and the rest of my aunts and uncles.

A couple weeks later, she returned with many, many stories and adventures to tell. Like of the hike up to see the Silver-Back Gorillas and walking a cable-walk! But through it all, I heard my dad ask, "So, out of this whole trip, what do you think changed you the most?" After a few moments of thought she replied "I have learned that we take so much for granted."

I didn't really think about it then, but since, I've pondered it so much. How many times a day do we stop and grumble because "the fire isn't warm enough" or "UGH!! We're having that for supper?!?". As this year is starting, I want to ask that we stop before we let out that sigh or grumble and think, "I could easily be one of those starving children" or "I could easily not have a home and be orphaned"

Now I don't want to make you feel guilty or anything, but I just encourage you to be thankful for the abundant blessings God has given you!
