Hey readers! I'm sorry for all the time in between all my posts, but for one, I'm not a creative writer so half the time I am racking my brain of something new to post! And secondly, it is January.....shall I say more? BUSY!!!!
Lately, one certain subject keeps on coming back into my mind. I'll explain
My oldest cousin told us back in November that she had a chance to go to Africa with one of her classes at college. We were all thrilled and prayed that she would be able to. Time went along and she announced again that she in fact would be able to take the trip to Rwanda, Africa!
So December 25th 2010, my cousin boarded a plane to Washington D.C. and then to Africa. We were a little upset that she wouldn't be able to join us for our Christmas events but at the same time we were overjoyed at her 'once-in-a-lifetime' opportunity.
We were kept in-touch by her parents who would talk to her every once in a while and then report to us and the rest of my aunts and uncles.
A couple weeks later, she returned with many, many stories and adventures to tell. Like of the hike up to see the Silver-Back Gorillas and walking a cable-walk! But through it all, I heard my dad ask, "So, out of this whole trip, what do you think changed you the most?" After a few moments of thought she replied "I have learned that we take so much for granted."
I didn't really think about it then, but since, I've pondered it so much. How many times a day do we stop and grumble because "the fire isn't warm enough" or "UGH!! We're having that for supper?!?". As this year is starting, I want to ask that we stop before we let out that sigh or grumble and think, "I could easily be one of those starving children" or "I could easily not have a home and be orphaned"
Now I don't want to make you feel guilty or anything, but I just encourage you to be thankful for the abundant blessings God has given you!
Jess
